Reaction Calorimeters

Reaction Calorimeters

Screening, Process Development and Process Safety Studies

Reaction calorimeters allow the investigation of chemical processes under process-like conditions, providing information about the scalability and safety of the process.  These instruments are used in chemical and pharmaceutical development to measure the amount of energy released or absorbed by a chemical or physical reaction.

A reaction calorimeter consists of a stirred tank reactor of variable size in which the temperature of the reaction mass is monitored and controlled together with all relevant critical process parameters.

Reaction calorimeters are specialized instruments used to measure the heat released or absorbed during chemical reactions. They are essential in various fields, including chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and materials science, for understanding reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and safety parameters. By precisely measuring the thermal changes associated with reactions, these devices provide critical insights into reaction enthalpies, heat capacities, and rates.
